The Institute for Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Waste Management (ISWA) is a facility of research and education of the Universitaet Stuttgart within the faculty of “Civil and Environmental Engineering”. The core competencies are finding solutions and solving problems in all relevant environmental fields of solid waste, water supply, wastewater, and exhaust air. [read more]

The Institute for Future Energy Systems - IZES is an associated research institute of the Saarland University of Applied Sciences and is doing applied research and development in the area of renewable energies, decentralised energy production and distribution, energy efficiency and regional material flow and resource management. The research activities are organised in four departments: Material Flow Management / Biomass Utilisation, Energy System Technologies, Energy Industry / Future Markets, Accredited Test Facility for Solar Thermal Systems and Photovoltaic. The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (in German “Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin – BAuA”) is a public body of the Federal Republic of Germany, founded through a decree of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in 1996. BAuA supports the Ministry in all questions of Occupational Safety and Health and has to fulfil several tasks on national level. [read more]




ENDA (Environmental Development Action in the Third World) is an international non-profit organisation based in Dakar, Senegal, founded in 1972. ENDA-Ethiopia is the Ethiopian branch of ENDA located in Addis Ababa. Its present activities centre on urban popular economy and ecology, environmental education, sustainable farming and communication. [read more]




RLDS (Regional and local development studies) was established in 1996 as a joint graduate and policy research program run by the Addis Ababa University and the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), the Netherlands. The program is now fully run by the Addis Ababa University. The staff is specialised in urban and regional development, environmental and resource management and development sociology. [read more]

The Civil Engineering Department is one of the Departments within the University, located at the Technology Faculty Campus. The Department is involved in teaching undergraduate and Postgraduate Civil Engineering students, in research and consultancy.   [read more]
